Alphabet-Brainstorm - Communication Strategy - Brainstorming is a great way to get students' thinking in new ways and it works well when students work independently or with a group. Alphabet-Brainstorming involves students using the 26 letters of the alphabet to create a list of ideas or thoughts that begins with that particular letter. This technique is great for breaking down large topics or themes such as the Roaring Twenties or Civil Rights Movement. Students would fold a piece of paper in half and write the alphabet down the left side of the page and use the right side to write the coinciding idea or theme.

Two Column Note-Taking - Organization Strategy - Most note taking in Mr. LeGrand's history class will be on guided notes provided for students prior to lecture. However some free handed note taking will occur when students are watching student presentations, videos, or other demonstrations. During this time students will divide a sheet of paper into two sides: Key Ideas on the left margin and Responses on the right margin. This note taking strategy assists the teacher in understanding students’ misconceptions and questions, and helps evaluate students’ understanding of material.
